Fujieda explains that the simplicity of the new design resulted in a movement 20 percent lighter than the Caliber 9S8 Series. It is not an exaggeration that the new structure enabled a 10-beat mechanism to have a large power reserve.

The new 9SA5 caliber boasts a longer battery life (80 hours), as well as a precision range of -3 to +5 second per day. Fujieda has made this possible with two innovations. First, the dual impulse escapement dramatically increases the efficiency of driving force sent to the balance. The second innovation is the twin barrels that allow the mainsprings to store more power, thus extending the battery life of the watch.
